Nice areas close to Downtown that are very nice and safe:

1. Miami Shores
2. Downtown
3. Brickell
4. Coral Way (neighborhood immediately west of Brickell)
5. Coral Gables

And further away at closer to a 30 minute commute:

1. Doral (15-20 mins)
2. Miami Lakes (20-30 mins)
3. Miami Springs (15-20 mins)

If you can, why not just live in Downtown or by a Metrorail station? You'll save yourself a lot of time by living close to work.

I lived in Doral an is an excellent place to raise children because has very good elementary schools, is safe, great parks and the houses are new,, (this means less bacteria) good services and green.

The traffic between Doral an Downtown could be a problem but if you leave early the free ways are not crowded.

If you have any doubt ask me!

Overall, which city is better to raise a family, lower crime rate, education, etc.

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Thanks!!!
Doral is much closer to Downtown Miami ... that said Weston is a much nicer city , more upscale , cleaner , safer and with much better schools ... no comparison and ohh in Weston the majority of the residents speak English

Actually, the majority of the residents in Doral speak English too. And the schools in Doral and not that much worse... the ratings are very similar between the two cities in terms of schools.

I'd say that the shopping in Doral is superior to Weston, and the name is cooler to boot.

I like Weston and hate Doral, however Weston is far from downtown Miami.I would go with Pinecrest or Palmetto Bay!
