I had my last haircut January 14th...By now I look like a Homeless Poet.

The Barber Shop I use for several years remains closed and will not be opening with the 2nd Phase Monday the 18th..

Yesterday AM out of nowhere the Mrs got a Text from her Hairdresser, she works for a National Chain, and with no signs of openning dates yet, she and a coworker will start working next Thursday at a place that allows them to be by themselves while they rent chairs from them.

I jumped liked a Kid and already got me an appmnt with her for Friday the 22nd 1st thing AM.

This is the LONGEST I have been without a cut or trim in my entire life my spouse says that my eyebrows are so thick they make me look like an ~Angry Bird~. The wife is also visiting them the next Day.

Finally...

One positive note: more mainland restaurants have remained open while others are now just reopening—including independents. My biggest fear was that we might lose 25-30% of them (still possible if/when a next wave hits) as a result of Covid 19....so far the only casualty I have noticed has been La Lupita Mexican Restaurant. Take out only right now in City of Miami but sit down service, with restrictions, resumes on May 27–be interesting to see how that works out. Take out really means less to restaurants since it does not include profitable alcohol sales in many cases.

I believe Bal Harbour Shops has already reopened with Brickell City Centre scheduled for this week.

For a city heavily dependent upon the service industry this is some encouraging, potentially good, and welcome news.

Yep tomorrow we get one of our neighborhood water holes back in one piece, The Hurricane Grill opens their inside dinning finally !!!!

Chuy's is CLOSING down totally as per an eMail I got from them today out of Texas, Nice place but way too expensive, so hopefully some at the median income of West Kendalites moves in, because they charged Coral Gables prices.

The Hammocks Grill opens the doors too...W Kendall moving slowly on the road to normalcy.

Unfortunately, just because they haven't closed yet doesn't mean that they still might not go out of business in the near future if business doesn't return to pre-pandemic levels. A second wave won't be necessary to cause the closure of many more restaurants. I've seen dire predictions of as much as a 25%-50% failure rate for small, independent restaurants (and businesses in general).

Just as an FYI, the City of Coral Gables has announced that it will allow sit-down service beginning a week earlier on May 20th, the earliest date allowed by Miami-Dade County.

Good, re: Coral Gables!!

I’m dying without the gym, though might wait awhile and use the one at my condo, instead, for a bit once we get the green light.

When the LA Fitness opens, I am waiting exactly 30 days before I even go by the place..I work out every AM without a miss, so I am in no hurry.

The Miller Ale Houses in Central Florida and The SunCoast have openned their inside dining, hopefully Miami Dade with several of them here are close to doinn the same.

Over in Naples they opened on May 4th.

We went to a Mellow Mushroom in Estero when my son was golfing in a tournament. Felt weird, we just wanted to leave the whole time and we sat outside away from people.

One of the biggest takeaways for us was how much $ we were wasting on restaurants and how much weight they were putting on. I've lost 9 pounds since we started staying home in Mid-March.

I have been walking about 6-8 miles/day, but have no weights at home and have not done as many push ups as I would have liked...visited a friend up in Palm Beach last week who invested in a one piece multistation gym and it felt great to exercise....doubt public gyms will feel like pre-Covid 19 for some time—advanced appointments, time slots, working out with a mask, less socialization. There will not be any rate reductions for these diminished experiences since gyms are investing in more disinfectants and cleaning than before.

I will continue to support the local, independent restaurants via takeout in hopes my future dining options are not limited to corporate chains Olive Garden and Applebees.

Looks like the Keys will reopen on June 1.

Highly doubt I will get on a plane in 2020; definitely no international travel until sometime in 2021, with a short trip (Nassau) being my first likely test run. More likely to visit places I have not been to in Florida.

I track my monthly expenses and have spent about 23-25% less than I did pre-Covid 19.
