I am in a 5 bedroom house and the home office is in one corner of the house where the sun beats down on it hard in the afternoons and it has a modem, wifi router, and pc which generate heat.

The entire house is at 75 degrees and this home office room is around 79, a bit warm. I have to put the A/C on 72 to make that corner room 76 or so which freezes everyone in the rest of the house.

My question is, does anyone use any portable a/c that is hoseless or ventless to cool a room a few degrees? I do not want to rip a hole in the wall nor rip out a window for a wall a/c unit, just something easy to cool the room a bit.

These no hose/ventless a/c units though say they do not work in humid areas. Not sure if putting ice in the tray will help my situation, really appreciate any input by someone who has used these successfully or unsuccessfully before I pay $$$ on amazon for a unit.

Thank you for your time!!!!

I run a portable AC in my garage, it keeps it nice and cool. you have to vent them, I vent mine through a vent in the garage.

The ventless you are talking about is a swamp cooler, and they do not work in humid places.

Haven’t used these in FL, but used them in computer rooms elsewhere, these things will easily keep things icy cool.

I have also heard good things about these units.

Those portable AC's are not very good. If it's a small room and you get some central AC in there it might help. You can use a window vent and you only have to open it about 6 inches and they come with a sliding panel. Some need a hose of a bucket to collect the water from the humidity it pulls out.

I would get sun blocking curtains first and get a small fan and aim it at the PC and router to cool them off. IF you can get a ceiling fan or have one they help a lot.

A more permanent solution would be to use a mini-split heat pump like shown in posting #3.

They are the future of heating and air conditioning world wide, especially if it's just for one room being uncomfortable.

You can also find inexpensive units online that are not difficult to install (for a professional.) Many handy individuals install their own, too.

Nah, portable AC units are awesome. My little LG cools down one of my separated garages great (single car, part of a three car garage, but it has its own door, I built a wall to separate it also), keeps it at 77 throughout the year.

Since the house has central AC, a cheap single hose portable AC would be enough.

Has the OP considered applying heat reflective film to the glass in that room? That might be enough to manage the heat gain that's causing that room to remain warmer. Also, if the air is only a bit warmer and not more humid, the OP could consider just a fan for air circulation.
