hi everyone. I am a black (from a French Caribbean country)lady who lives in Paris. I would like to come in miami with my friend and i am looking for a 1 bedroom apartment for 1 or 2 months in miami. The problem is I received some ads from real estates in miami but I don t know where to go. My preference would be to stay in an area with black people, cool and easy going witout hearing any `gun shot`.unfortunatly, the documentaries of black people in Miami that i see on Tv in France is quite `frightening` but i still not beleive everything i see on TV. So could you please help me to find a nice area. The ads I have received are located at Ford Launderdale, Colony Lakes, Hainlinn Mills, Cutler Vista. the prices are between $700 and 1000 , is it the average rent? thank you for helping me
Email or DM me please

I'd try Midtown Miami, Upper East Side (the area up and around Biscayne Blvd north of Midtown), Design District and maybe Edgewater, but it's not very black but very close to the black community. Your best bet is the Upper East Side, it's safe, it's historic, it's very quaint, it's close to all of Miami's big black communities but is still very diverse, and there's a big sense of community with lots of affordable apartments and nice parks. For example, they have a green market every Saturday selling everything, eggs, flowers, vegetables, pastries, meat, etc. It's actually a very nice, urban neighborhood.

thank you for your answer. I have no problem livingwithdifferent communities. In Fact i have been living for 1year in England and my friend are english, polish, spanish and Caribean. I would like to be in a ¬black community` for 2 reasons : I usually find the food that I eat everyday and I do not want to see people looking at like me like a kind of freak or showing m that i am not welcomed in their area. As a said before, the only thing I know about Usa is what i read on the newspaper and unfortunatly what i see on TV. I am just a nice and easy going lady who want to spend a nice time in Miami

You might consider the North Miami/North Miami Beach. I personally like the mix of people, there is a large Haitian population, also other Caribbean, particularly Jamaican, Hispanic of various origins and racial mixes, some Anglos and African Americans, an Orthodox Jewish section, and probably other racial/ethnic groups I have forgotten to mention. There are lots of rentals of all sorts. You are close to the beach, the highways and in between two international airports. The downside is that you need a car, and the crime rate is higher than in some areas.
