I live in JAX area for over a year now and have just learned that my stuffy nose is due to either tree pollen allergy or the beginning of asthma.
I often go to Miami on weekends and never have issues with the stuffy nose. None whatsoever. Same for North Carolina. Never had these issues in my life. Hope not to start any medications as there is no end in sight. Not the end that I am looking forward to.

Is it true that this allergy or asthma doesn’t exist in Southern Florida? Or, at least, very rare compared to Northern Florida.

I also can easily be outside in Miami during summer months up to 1pm. In JAX I can have a heat stroke within 15 min. Same temperature in both cities. Both on the beach. Jax beach & south beach. I can’t understand that phenomena either.

Are there any sources to figure this out? What is your experience?

There are people with allergies here...and everywhere. Not sure how it compared to North Florida. However, a lot of the vegetation in Jacksonville is the same of that of North Carolina and even some from Miami. If I were you, I would try to find out what tree or plant you are having an allergic reaction to and then see if that same plant is widespread in NC or Miami. You could have just visited when it wasn't releasing pollen.

Weather here is similar to Jacksonville in the summer, but more humid and temps are a few degrees cooler. Some people prefer a drier heat, others a few degrees cooler but extra humidity.

If it helps, I have sometimes had allergies in late summer in Miami.

I scheduled an allergy test. ENT nurse commented that JAX is the worst in Florida for allergies.
Given the amount of trees I would think Gainesville or Panhandle. Go figure.

I've heard the same is true from an allergen specialist about Ft Myers/SW FL.

You develop the allergies where you grow up. So many people from the Midwest move to SE or SW Fl and say 'my allergies are so much better'.

If you have allergies in Jax, you'll have them in Miami too.

Oh, also, we are in the middle of a Saharan Air Layer (milky white and gray skies) which I believe bothers people with breathing issues. Not sure if you are affected by this, it happens every summer but this year it has been more pronounced than others.

I am very familiar with Saharan Air Layer (coming this week to Miami) I can’t stand it.
However, if I remember correctly it is a one week thing. Allergy is a six month to a year fun.

I would guess Miami Beach would have less alergies-- more breeze - less plants. Anyone know?

It seems to come in spurts throughout the summer, it can be a few days or over a week. It isn't constant, it is more random.

Usually the weather channel app gives a pollen count. The Saharan dust we get every year is worse on the respiratory system.
