At MIA airport is it a bus, operated by the each rental company, or train( or similar) to get to the rental car place?

It's a very short ride on a free train.

It's hardly a "train" in the sense of how people understand them. It's an automated airport transport system like you might find in any large American airport. That said, it's called the MIA Mover.

As said above, its a train. The airport is setup where all the terminals are basically in a semi circle, and you have to walk between them depending on your gate. In the center there is a train terminal that takes you to the rental car place and back. No other stops.

All that to say, depending on what gate / terminal you're at, it might be a decent walk to get to the train because the train doesn't go between terminals.
