“Sadly, the vast majority of tickets for the inaugural 2022 Miami Grand Prix at Miami International Autodrome were sold out almost instantly in a heavily oversubscribed pre-sale process last October to applicants who had registered via the promoter site. Many of those who registered never even had the opportunity to purchase, such was the demand for tickets” .

I have been to the Spanish Grand Prix F1 in Barcelona….it’s location is not on the water or downtown either (Montmelo, 12 miles inland)…similar with F1 Austin (14 miles from downtown). Hasn’t seemed to zap enthusiasm (even though I would’ve preferred a downtown location).

Carol City / Miami Gardens is not really "sketchy." Over a decade ago, I used to work there in the offices as computer programmer. It's not "dangerous" per say... you're on a major road, which is basically University Drive (though the name changes to Douglas Rd.). It's perfectly safe, and it's only gotten safer since then. Some of the surrounding homes are lower income, but it's not dangerous.

My biggest concern, as an F1 fan, was that this was going to be a dumpy track in the parking lot... and I had all kinds of images of failure. I've been to a few F1 races, and understand that F1 drivers are some of the highest paid athletes in the world, and a single F1 car is a 17 million dollar investment... and teams have 2 of them (or 4 / spares).

If you guys haven't been to "Joe Robbie" stadium in a decade, it's completely changed. It was a nice stadium after the Huizenga renovations... but the amount of money that Steven Ross has spent renovating the stadium and the grounds for the F1 race is unbelievable. Spend a little bit of time checking out what they've done. They tore up the entire parking lot and remade the area where the track will be... so the entire track is brand new. It's not going anywhere either... this is a first of many.

Yes, agree on the frustration of the tickets being sold... they were gone immediately. Miami's whole population are basically F1 fans... so it's what it is.

The F1 venue will be perfectly safe. The drive there will be quite safe. The surrounding area is dangerous.

For those not able to attend the actual Formula 1 races itself (most of us), there will be Speed Week at Bayfront Park in downtown with many exhibits and live feeds of the event:

Are you saying that the track is permanent? I don't believe that considering that Hard Rock Stadium is the home of the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Hurricanes and the parking lot is going to be coming back. It's just a temporary venue.

Looks amazing! Will only better over time as they improve the venue.
