Hi all,

My husband and I are moving to Miami w/ a 15 month old son. My husband will be working at Jackson Memorial Hospital. I might be working in Hollywood area (not confirmed yet...).

Which area is a good & safe place to live with commute not too bad for both of us? I am looking for an apartment to rent with a park close by and good daycares. BTW, we also have the limitation of not knowing spanish at all.

I read on one of the posts that parts of Hollywood are good. Can you please list which parts? I also read about tri-rail and metrorail. Is that better than driving to downtown? Can my husband take the trirail and metrorail to go to JMH from Hollywood to avoid I-95 traffic? Is it reliable?

If you have suggestions of any other neighborhoods with apartments that are safe and family friendly w/ not a bad commute, please let me know.

Thanks for your help!

They are going to need your income or at least what you want to pay.

Bal Harbour is right smack in the middle between hollywood and Miami/Jackson and is a very nice area. ▐▐ ► Luxury on the beach!!! Utilities included!!! Call Now!!! (broken link) It's also still east...which is good for you and your husband's jobs.

Aventura is also a very nice bet...but it is closer to his job and not as "in the middle" as Bal Harbour. ▐▐ ► MARBLE FLOORS, GREAT LOCATION, CABLE AND WATER INCLUDED, (broken link)

How is Aventura closer to Jackson than it is to Hollywood?

What would be the commute time from Bal Harbour to Hollywood and to Jackson Memorial Hospital? What about Hollywood to Jackson Memorial Hospital during rush hour?

Bal Harbour should be about 30-40 min or so... From Hollywood (depends where) about 45min-1 hr...

I think Aventura is your best bet...All depends on your taste.

Yeah he needs to drive. Forget the metrorail. It wouldn't be safe going north of Downtown in my opinion.

The places you mention are not even close to being as family friendly as, say, Miami Lakes. Look up Miami Lakes and join this wonderful community. Hey, it's good enough for a Florida Senator and his family. Look up Main Street and Fountain House Apartments, and you will see what I mean.

I was checking apartments in Aventura and found a bunch of them in one area... One of the addresses is:

NE 183 ST, Aventura, FL 33160

There are quite a few apartment complexes in this area. Do you know if this is a good area? It looked very close to North Miami Beach when I checked the map...

Thanks for the suggestion of Miami Lakes. I will check that out as well.
