Actually the Mary Brickell Publix is on hold, or not being built at the moment. As for other areas like Downtown/Bayside or Edgewater/Design district, there must me a real reason why Pubix stores haven't sprouted up in those areas. Proximity to the hood? My guess is that all qualified hood labor is already working at the two Brickell Publix locations... Quality workforce is a REAL issue for this up and coming winter haven for the rich.

Yeah, i'd say your guess is right. Publix is usually in more affluent parts of town. I guess the market can't justify at this time since there are 2 publixes down there.

There isn't even a Winn Dixie in the parts of town I just mentioned as far as I remember.

There is a Publix at 48th and Biscayne,so that would be pretty close to Midtown and the Design District

Publix used to have a delivery service. I wonder if that would be something worth bringing back for the downtown market. Or maybe there is a 3rd party service that can do that. Seems like a business idea that could work, hmmm.

I would rather live where I can get my vegetables and fruits from right outside my door. Meat would come from a local butcher, or hunting and fishing. Somehow downtown living just does not seem practical. By the way, the area around Bayside is THE DEAD ZONE, and Bayside itself is a decaying, uncomfortable 80's complex that replaced a more beautiful bayfront park. Even funnier is the circus or carnival, or whatever "performing arts center". There is usually a street drama starring the homeless that you can see for free, though.

What are you talking about? Bayside is probaly the liveliest spot in that part of Downtown. Besides Brickell the Biscayne Blvd/Bayside area is anything but a dead zone full of people, tourist and days when theres a game or concert in the arena or shows in the Concert hall its just beyond packed. Probaly a little more west of Biscayne Blvd it gets more quiet. And I think we got that you wish you lived out in the rural country and thats fine but don't make urban living seem something its not. Right now across the country including Miami urban living is exploding and more and more people are doing it. In another posts you compare it to the soviets?!?! That once again is beyond ridiculous, these condos/apts are not commie blocks they are livable, attractive, comftorable, and descent to say the least. Again, nobody has a problem with you admiring rural living, alot of people do but don't go ahead and sensationalize the other extreme.
