Hi, I'm going to be starting grad school at FIU in August, and I am looking for apartment complex recommendations in the Doral area. I am open to other parts of Miami, but would like to live fairly close to the university park campus.

I'm looking for a newer complex with laundry/fitness facilities and a pool. Looking to spend about 1000/month.

Thank you!

you might wanna look for roommates. doral is expensiv. check out islands at doral II, around 107th ave/82nd st. plenty of empty townhouses around there with a community clubhouse/pool/gym etc.

it's very isolated up there though...

When my friend was a senior at FIU he lived in Camden Doral, which is on NW 107th Avenue just north of NW 41st Street. It was gated and had a gym, pool, and common areas... seemed to be a nice place. It was a three bedroom which he shared with roommates so I am not sure the price of the one bedroom there.

Isolated? Next to the airport, down the road from the I-75 corridor, a straight shot from Downtown and the beach, and within the city itself are two Malls, tons of retail and dinning options, commerce parks and tons of buisnesses. I don't know how thats isolated.
Anyways, I don't think it will be too hard, I work in Doral but don't know names or prices.

i'm not saying all of doral sucks, just north of 58th st. I live and work in Doral. The area I mentioned (107th ave & 82nd st) is about three miles north of 41st st and even further away from Dolphin mall. it's reallllllly quite up there. which might be helpful though if you only wanna concentrate on your studies

Even if you only wanna go for a walk, there's NOTHING around it. Just a bunch of townhouses, construction sites and wasteland.

and never underestimate doral traffic when you're saying "a straight shot"

i'd check out craigslist, usually there's plenty of FIU folks looking for roommates I'm paying about $650 (utilities incl.)

I live in Doral off a golf course gated comunity its very pretty but has a sinister vile side to it which is like nothing I have ever seen complete lack of social consciousness by the politicians ALL of them and most of the people.
I NEVER saw this disregard for people in PA like I have seen here.
It has the worse bus service in South Florida its so bad ( gotten worse in last year) you see the cleaning women,,nurses, etc that come to these communities wait HOURS in scorching sun waiting to catch 2 buses (used to be one) to get to Metro train after their day is done.

However they are "only" human beings not rich thus Doral politicos dont care about them.
