Was he shot over a parking space? Or was that just a rumor?

Even if they do not get the real criminal, they will find someone to convict. I refuse to believe that any citizen is better or more valuable than another. I hope that every murder investigation gets this much attention. Otherwise it is purely favoritism. It is sad to see how many murders get no attention and the criminals are never caught. Hopefully the details of the case are made public and truthfully. .

Whatever happened to this murder investigation? Oh wait, he was not one of the important ones.

At some level, I agree with tallrick. The law enforcement oftentimes seem half ass until one of 'their own' is involved.

If it was my father who isn't "one of them," would he get the same attention? Absolutely not -- he'd just be another poor smuck at the wrong place at the wrong time. There's something really wrong with that in my opinion. But that's reality..

Anyway, cut him some slack. It's been hot lately

Supposedly they caught the guy based on a sketch and a car description which I think is pretty amazing and indicate what they can accomplish if they really try.

Tallrick isn't the only one thinking this way. He had a higher capture award in two days than the shooter of Sgt. Reika from last year has to this day.

Who ever said this was a fair world we live in ,it is all about money and notoriety. If the authorities and the media investigated every shooting or murder just think what the taxpayer bill would be then. I t is all about hiearchy positions from the President on down, the rest of us our peons have to look out and fend for ourselves and hope there was another related incident so the authorities might investigate it more thorughly. If we are a nobody the media is not going to make a big deal of it,sad but true, they want sensationalism in their stories along with it being a notoriecal person with prestige.

It's comfortable and convenient for police officers to be questioned since they represent authority and let's face it: Everyone's gotten a ticket they feel they didn't deserve.

But when someone is kicking in your door at night while your family sleeps and you call 911, the police is going to be there no questions asked. REGARDLESS IF THEY HAVE KIDS, A DOG, NO QUESTIONS ASKED -THEY SWORE TO BE THERE FOR YOU WHEN YOU NEED THEM. When someone you know has been murdered, the police will put countless hours round the clock in to investigate that crime while we are asleep in bed or partying it up. Even though it isn't covered sensationally by the media, cops do their work day in day out thanklessly.

Cops go underpaid and when one of them gets killed VIOLENTLY, the same people they protect and serve question the amount of manpower being used up??

Maybe tallrick should go on ride a long on a 12am - 8am for a month with any police department down here for a little perspective on what it's like to be in the shoes of a law enforcement officer. Same goes for the author of that column in the sentinel.

Did you read what I said about the Broward police officer who was gunned down last year? There is a 267 thousand dollar award for the capture of the gunman to this day. By comparison, on day two, 275k was offered for the capture of the suspect in the customs agent case. You are right, the everyday police officers that are out there nabbing burglars and taking your calls do not get the credit they deserve, and this story should simply prove it.

"But when someone is kicking in your door at night while your family sleeps"

Do you mean like that SWAT police team who recently did just that to the Mayor of some small town and CHASED his labs in his yard and shot them ?

Is that an example of what you mean?
