Are you talking about Miami's Metro Rail? Because the closest stop is like 20 miles away from Homestead

Why is the miami metrorail service so infrequent? The website says one train every 30 minutes after 7:30??? That seems absurd.

Miami has a great mass transit master plan for the urban core (that is the areas from upper east side down to the south part of coconut grove and over to the jackson memorial area. They also have plans for heavy rail to the airport and a light rail system to south beach.

If you check out this link you can find all the studies and master plans for the various areas in Miami Dade. The most extensive one is for the Miami City Urban Core and South Beach. I think because of the density there its easier to implement as opposed to moving people around sprawling suburbs. Anyway here is the link (http://www.miamidade.gov/mpo/m11-studies.htm - broken link)
Are you talking about the streetcar up in down biscayne? I'm not sure a street car would be a smart approach. Streetcar work better in places that are not known for traffic. The street car in Houston and LA are known for hitting cars and even people! It will never work in Miami traffic.

If anything they should extend metro-mover from downtown to midtown. They need to have mass transit have the right of way only way for that is up. They despretaly need to connect the stadiums and south beach.

Bro,

I agree with you 1000%. I think street cars are silly. I am a HUGE advocate of mass transit. I watched a show on the history channel about the history of mono rails. It seems they are the cheapest to build and the most energy efficient out of all the forms of mass transit (believe it or not). I think as you have said metro mover should go from little haiti to coconut grove. Build out metro rail to pick up the western 'burbs and a mono rail to the beach and then maybe either another metro mover sorta thing on s. beach or extend a mono rail through out south beach.

Miami-Dade residents have been fighting this but some of the county commissioners have been trying to connect South Miami-Dade via the CSX railroad tracks that run along the turnpike and the 874 to Kendall Drive, then run a train down the center of Kendall Drive to the Metrorail at Dadeland.
