Hi All~
I'm wondering if there's anyone who works for or knows someone who works for the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood. I'm wondering how the wages, particularly for Poker dealers measure up to Atlantic City casinos. Anyone with any idea of the toke rate for dealers? I'm aware that wages are typically much lower in Florida than up North and I'm wondering how this translates in the casino industry.

Thanks!

Default No toke rate at The Hard Rock

To answer your question; The base pay is now approx. $3.15 / hr for poker dealers at The Hard Rock. Tokes are not pooled, you keep your own. When Blackjack, Baccarat and Pai Gow Poker begin in June, Those dealers will pool tokes, but Poker dealers will still keep their own.
Atlantic City has the higher limits, which generates the higher tokes.
New dealer schools are popping up here as well. Casino Career School in Pompano Beach, which is down the street from The Isle Of Capris at Pompano Park. The Isle of Capris on Powerline Rd., has Vegas Style slots and a poker room. The Seminols also have a casino in Coconut Creek.

hardrock hollywood, gulfstream, miccosukee.

i can only speak for poker at the hardrock: max BI is $100, doesn't matter what stakes you're playing. even at 5/10 NL (currently the highest), which is kind of ridiculous lol. even for 1/2 it's kind of low. but i think they got rid of the $6 rake at hardrock a few weeks ago.

well last time i checked was a couple weeks ago but i doubt they have changed it in the meantime.

yeh i also don't bother playing down here at the casinos. i also got bored of online-poker after playing B&M games on a regular basis... i hope i can convince a few friends to go to vegas over memorial day, it's long overdue to go there again

Does anybody know of a quick and affordable dealer school in Miami? Can you get hire at the Hard Rock after finishing school?

It's almost impossible to get in to the hard rock down here. Even as an experienced dealer, they are just not hiring. The coconut creek Seminole was hiring blackjack dealers but they already did their hiring. That leaves nothing. There is a good casino school in Ft lauderdale that I know of, I was there in December brushing up on my games. Let me know if want the name.

I have a question about florida casinos. why is it that I've heard so many people in florida complain about indian gambling? it's accepted everywhere else around the country and yet strangely I've heard so many people complain about the fact that the indians have casinos. i really don't understand what the big deal is. can anyone explain it?

Weenies in Tallahassee.

The state needs to just approve full fledged casino gambling.

But I've said it once and will say it again, I would NOT want casinos in Miami Beach. I think Overtown would be the best place for them. Completely redevelop the area, have the casinos build (or purchase existing) housing units throughout the cities so nobody is displaced from their home (this also breaks up the concentration of crime) and also put in a requirement of funding a Metrorail line out to the beach.

Sheldon Adelson of LVS was getting cozy with a legislator last year, I'm not sure how it all turned out or what is still in the works.
