I'm looking to move either 10th and Lenox or 6th and Meridian. I've found a lot of apartments I like and they all keep getting leased before I can get my hands on them. I really like the 10th and Lenox area, but it looks as though that apartment might get leased before I can get into it. I'm pretty sure I can get the 6th and Meridian but I heard it's kind of ghetto. Can anyone advise?

Sixth and Meridian is kind of skethcy to be honest. If you do live there, do not hang out at the corner laundromat or grocery store at night as there were a number of muggings there in the last couple of years. Meridian is actually pretty bad from 5th up to 8th street, where it progressively gets better as you get closer to Lincoln Road.

It's not the worst place in the world, but if you are going to live in SoBe, I'd recommend somewhere else. 10th and Lenox is good, and most anything north of 10th street is good.

I agree with Lost in Translation. If possible I would stay South of Fifth or along the West Ave spine. Plus, if you have a car forget it. None of the buildings there have parking. I don't know it is just me but it seems like a lot of the buildings have this musty smell.

Good suggestions - West Ave is probably more affordable than SoFi, though. Also, be very, very careful to check for cockroaches before you agree to anything. Cockroaches are very common in the older buildings in SoBe - check for little pellets of poop, broken legs, etc., in the kitchen cupboards. I know it sounds gross, but you DO NOT WANT TO LIVE with cockroaches.
