Foreign investors have different investment criteria than American investors, so what might not work for Americans may actually work for them. Some European countries give far more favorable tax treatment to profits from foreign real estate than domestic, and they tend to have a longer (7 years +) time horizon than typical domestic real estate funds.

Plus there's always the currency play. If they think the US$ will appreciate, then even a profitless investment in nominal US currency could yield a profit when repatriated into their local currencies. Lots of foreigners have lost money on Miami real estate, but lots have made a ton of money as well.

More power to foreigners if they choose to invest here.

we would have far greater problems than the dollar not being the reserve currency. High unemployment, social unrest etc. etc.
