You know....I know there is crime, intolerance of sexual choices, racism, etc. even in Miami as it happens anywhere, but here in the Gables and some other parts in Miami there are people that do walk to places (& w/pooches), ride bikes, roller blading, little kids with those sneakers w/the two little wheels in back rolling along. Even two houses down from me, 4 days ago, I saw 4 kids playing hop scotch on the sidewalk and nobody came and snatched them up or anything. I'm one of those that walks every single night (ride bikes, too) & have yet to be mugged or anything like that. I encounter people from all backgrounds everyday on my walks & they say hello and everything. That's why as long as I stay in Miami I'm staying put here.
Spanish yes...there's lots spoken in Miami, but where I live, in Coral Gables, I'd say 100% speak English, also. The Spanish speakers in this area are mostly educated, family oriented & open minded (like tallrick mentioned). But not all speak spanish either, some might be bilingual but can speak Italian, French, Chinese, Russian, German, Yiddish, etc., etc, etc. We have all sorts of people, buttt....it's funny how we all get along & we have like a sameness. Guess our mindsets are alike.
