They want to cut weekend Tri-Rail service and cut weekday service by 30 daily trains due to lack of funding. Tri-Rail is funded by Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade, and partially by the State Legislature. However, funding is not secured and if one pulls out (Palm Beach) the other two counties follow, leaving Tri-Rail essentially dead. Over 4.5 million people ride Tri-Rail a year, and is crucial for many to get to work, school, home, etc. Tri-Rail's ridership has also been growing every quarter, and is one of the fastest growing commuter rail systems in the U.S.

Tri-Rail needs to get dedicated funding from the State Legislature to ensure that Tri-Rail's future is secure. Please fill out this 2-second petition to suport funding for Tri-Rail and e-mail your representatives. The more voices, letters, phone calls, signatures, anything, the better. Save Tri-Rail! Thanks guys!

I signed it.

These things are WAY more important to the QOL in SoFla (the economic engine of Florida) than things like the ballpark. If anything, in these tough times, they should be INCREASING the number of trains and make reliable connections to the main places people need to go a priority.

Amazing. No money for trains, but tons of money for a private organization's ballpark. Just amazing.

I think they should lease the rail lines to the private sector. I'm sure some domestic (or foreign) company would jump on that opportunity. The service would be better, and tickets would probably be cheaper. Further government subsidization of an already ailing industry is never the answer.

There's a big difference between a train and a road.

Tri-Rail is a joke. You can ride it but it goes almost nowhere. Scheduling is somewhat unimportant. When it started it was inexpensive, but oh how it increased in price. Believe it or not it takes less time for me to go somewhere in Broward or PB county by car and is cheaper to drive!!! Tri-Rail may get you up the old FEC rail line but most destinations are west in what then was the Everglades. If it is eliminated, who cares.

What about this free-flowing bailout funny money? Just proves that whenever Government is involved, things fail. Yes, just build a useless port tunnel and a ball park we can watch being imploded in 2030.

Public transportation is becoming more of a political tool of sorts than an instrument of practicality. Without the Tri-Rail, there would be fewer jobs given away for political patronage. The dissolution of a local government agency like Tri-Rail would also mean that a lot of minorities would lose their jobs. Nobody "rocks the quota" as much as gov't agencies. I would take pleasure in seeing Tri-Rail fail.

Tri-Rail needs to run a lot MORE often; service should not be cut. It would be a tragedy for a 5,000,000 person+ metropolitan area to not have a commuter rail line. I for one do NOT want to see Tri-Rail fail.
