I live in E. Kendall and know this statement to be pure baloney. The city of Miami (proper) and the beaches are more like that.

East Kendall isn't a haven for gays, but I bet there are more gays there than in most other areas of the country. Furthermore, though East Kendall is a nice, upper middle class area of professionals and you won't find many people around that straight up don't speak English, I believe about half of the population is foreign-born. Plenty of Cubans (excluding Cuban-Americans) and South Americans, and some Europeans, live in East Kendall. The bottom line is that if the OP doesn't want to live around "immigrants," East Kendall may not be what he wants, because it has a fairly high proportion of immigrants (albeit established, middle/upper-middle class ones), moreso than in other areas of the country.

OP-If your wife doesn't like immigrants (of any ethcnicity), how many options does that leave you? Montana? South Florida as a whole is not the place for her...
