I grow tired of this argument. I'm not in any way bashing Cubans, but I don't like the mentality that some of them have that they are "better" than every other immigrant. The fact is that through "wet foot, dry foot", Cubans have a free/easy pass into the United States, with no pre-entry credentials and no $$$ required, so it stands to reason that they're more likely to achieve success than their Mexican, Haitian and Colombian counterparts, don't you think?

If I were him, I'd be exploring Barcelona, taking hundreds of shots of all that wonderful Gaudi architecture, or enjoying a walk on Las Ramblas. And if I got bored of that, I'd take a train to Madrid or Valencia, or I'd cross the border to Southern France and the Pyrenees Mountains, which are practically on his doorstep by US standards

But hey...I'm bored here in Miami, so I have an excuse for posting a lot.

Leo, do you want to trade places?

Those of us who had immigrant relatives DEPORTED out of here for simple ridiculous reasons have no empathy/sympathy support or interest in anything Hispanic to us it's like a pocket of undesirables.

DEPORTED ....such as my brother in law and cousin in MEDICAL SCHOOL HERE....getting caught WORKING in a GREEK restaurant/nightclub. The restaurant was a fully Greek speaking/cuisine/entertainment... and all the customers were Greek with hardly ANY Americans) when not a single non-Greek citizen could ever do that job.

So you got what you wanted from your politicialns in Miami. Dirty 1980's money, and illiterate, radical, Anti American third world behaviors including REFUSAL to even act like they're in the USA. Not to mention the "infighting" drama of which Hispanic group is "smarter, whiter, more educated, more lazy or not, has more Euro blood, worthy" and all the nonsense that goes on in that demographic.

Sorry but the "Hispanic infighting " that you so mention usually is initiated by ignorant non- Hispanic posters , who claim that only Americans can be labeled as white or all Hispanics are the same , this is a third world cesspool etc , etc , etc ... also many non Cuban Hispanics speak up when they are accused of the purported misdeeds of the Miami Cubans .

I have to agree with you as well ... not to say that many Cubans are not honest and hard working .. but I also know a great many Cuban scam artists as well . The biggest beef my non Cuban Hispanic friends have with Cubans is that "we made Miami attitude "( whatever that means ? ) and thinking that they are better than other immigrant groups ... I many times do not agree with your posts , but you are right on with this one .

Great post ..... I would live in Barcelona in a heart beat .. awesome city ... Miami / Miami Beach does have its charms , but it does not compare to a real world class city like Barcelona .. that would be like comparing Chicago and Indianapolis

To anyone (Cuban or non-Cuban) who says "we have made Miami" -- is that something to be proud of? Drug money, tourism, property speculation and corruption made Miami, nothing more, nothing less.

Believe it or not, I'm not anti-Cuban, but I don't like the arrogance, in that respect. I know there are a lot of genuine, hard working Cubans, but as you mentioned, there are also a lot of scam artists, including the Medicare fraudsters who have cost taxpayers millions of dollars.

...and trust me, if a bill passed to give Haitians or Mexicans free amnesty, chances are they'd be just as "successful".

I have to get back to Barcelona one day....it really is a great city. Not only that, but if you're bored of Barcelona, you have so much on your doorstep, i.e. the rest of Spain and Europe. I think that Leo & I should trade places....
