I don't wish to create an argument here but cubans seem to be gifted business people irrespective of where they are.

They are creative, innovative, and do not trust government. That is a triumverate for success in many industries.

To the OP-

Many other refugees in Miami are all to reliant on government, although I give the Haitians credit for ther own Jitney bus service and their monopoly on the cab industry. A few of them could stand to take English at Miami Dade, however.

they're the most succesfull latino group in the city of miami.

Hey... dadeguy was saying that people from the americas were all the same... I tried to made my point that they are all different.

What about the central americans coming to the US through the border? aren't those poor immigrants?

The poor central Americans that enter through the border are as poor as the cuban illegals that come on a boat.

In my opinion all Americans speak english... even the illegal ones have access to free secondary education.

they're the most succesfull latino group in the city of miami.?

Well, you can`t compare a Cuban American with other Americans... they are the majority in florida...by statistics, there will be more successful cubans than anyone else in Miami (including anglos).

Remember than Cubans receive free federal food stamps, free college education, free federal housing, and a work permit than other American immigrants don`t receive. (benefits that hurt our taxpayers pockets)

When they arrive, they have better privileges than even angloamericans. (free housing, food, and college).

So why many of them have a college education??? because that`s what normal people do when they have a legal status in the country LOl.... that`s the least they could do to thank a country that opened its doors to them....geez...they better get educated at least!

It`s stupid to compare a Cuban with a Mexican.... one is legal alien and the other illegal.

I really believe that Miami could be better city... there is not one single big industry in miami..only tourism...if Cubans believe they are sooo successful....why the heck they haven`t created one single fortune 500 company here in Miami, many other immigrants groups that have spent the amount of time in this country have created very successful companies.

The only business that I know that were created by Cubans are Leon Medical Center...La Carreta restaurant.... and Versailles.

Cubans might have received the benefit of the Cuban Adjustment Act, and of course, the help of many Federal grants and subsidies in the past.

But Blacks, PR, WT and legal Mexicans (there are millions of them living in California, New Mexico and Texas since before the American invasion) have received one hundred times more subsidies and those groups are still at the bottom of the bird cage.

Of course, the fact that Cubans were entirely removed from their country made them different and stronger, since they devoted all the money to their communities in the US. They had to start from scratch, they are not like Latin Americans that invest their money in the U.S. but don't intend to live there, have no sense of permanence.

That's why Cubans, being a very small group as compared to Latin Americans, occupy a unproporcionate number of positions among the 100 richest Latins, and that's why they are hated and envied by Latins.

"they are not like Latin Americans that invest their money in the U.S. but don't intend to live there" absurd

This is what many many Europeans, Americans, Asians, and Arabs do... they invest in the country.

"have no sense of permanence." absurd

The majority of Americans (South, Central) have no sence of permanence because they don`t have access to a legal status in the country... NO work permit, no free housing,,no college education, etc.... many of them dont want to stay illegaly so they leave.

"They had to start from scratch" wrong

All immigrants Euro/Americans/Arabs/Asians/Australasians start from scratch (excluding the Cubans) ....Cubans do not start from scrath... other immigrants are the ones who start from scratch... they have no legal status, no access to college education...no free food, no free housing... ohh my god leovigildo.... dont you see the difference??? hehe---

"they are hated and envied by Latins" lie

Well, Cuban Latins are not envied by other latins... haha

Venezuelans, Argentines, Brazilians, uruguayans, Colombians, etc etc...do not envy Cubans... they feel sorry for them... Cubans dont have a homeland... they cant visit their relatives...soo...yeah...they feel sorry for them....

Argentines...Venezuelans......colombians.... bring$$$ get a house with a good down payment...have a student/investor visa.... many of them are U.S. nationals as well...

Puerto ricans are U.S. Americans...and they are thousand light years more succesful than Cubans...so they don`t count as immigrants...they are yanks at birth.

US Census Bureau. Facts about Cuban American:

Second-generation Cuban-Americans were more educated than even Anglo-Americans. More than 26.1% of second-generation Cuban-Americans had a bachelor's degree or better versus 20.6% of Anglos. Thus Cuban-Americans in 1997 were approximately 25% more likely to have a college degree than Anglos.

Other Hispanic groups lag far behind. Only 18.1% of South Americans had a bachelor's or better. Puerto Ricans, despite being U.S. citizens by birth, recorded a disappointing 11%; Mexican Americans only 7%.

In 1997, 36.9% of second-generation Cuban-Americans had an income greater than $50,000 versus 18.1% of Anglo- Americans. Cuban-Americans were twice as likely to earn more than $50,000. Also, approximately 11% of Cuban-Americans had incomes greater than $100,000 versus 9% of Anglo-Americans, and less than 2% of other Hispanics.

Pa' que te enteres, Contreras.

Cubans comprise less than 4% of the U.S. Hispanic population, Mexicans 65%, Puerto Ricans 10%, Central and South Americans 11%, and "others" 10%. Yet of the top 100 richest Hispanics in the U.S., more than 50% are of Cuban descent (ten times what it should be on a population basis), and 38% of Mexican descent. The rest is scattered among all other Hispanic groups.

I have never met a sucessful South American be they Argentine , Brazilian , Colombian , Venezuelan or Chilean that were envious of Cubans in Miami on the contrary they seemed to be disliked for the way the speak and act more so than anything and of course the way the claimed they "made " Miami . Yes , there are many sucessful professional Cubans in Miami and I applaud them , but there are just as many "undesirables" from the Island here as well .
