Hi everyone,

My husband and 6 years old son will be travelling to Miami in a couple of weeks.

Could you please suggest places or activities to take my little prince.

Thanks!

I think they would enjoy a day at Parrot Jungle and Island. Across the way is the Children's Science Center. There's also the Metro Zoo and the Miami Seaquarium. I hope they have a wonderful time!

Across the way is the Miami Children's Museum, not the Science Museum. The Miami Science Museum is across from Vizcaya in another area. The Children's Museum currently has a Clifford exhibit there that my six-year-old loved! Will be going back. I'll post more details about kid-friendly attractions later.

I am also looking for nature oriented and cultural activities (music, plays; etc).

Nature oriented: Try Everglades National Park (but this one is going to be hot, but is the only place of its kind on our planet) Fairchild Tropical Gardens, Matheson Hammock and the Deering Estate. About 1.15 minutes south is John Pennekamp Park in Key Largo, so many things to do there, it might be an option.

If you don't mind going out of Miami into Broward, I recommend Wannadoo City in the Sawgrass Mills Mall. IMO, it is well worth the drive cause there is nothing like it and at his age, he will love it! I had my daughter and sons 7 and 4 yo B-day party there and they had so much fun! It really is amazing. If you want to do the Everglades thing I recommend Holiday park. It's straight down Griiffen and Okeechobee Rd so you don't ahve to go far into the glades and they ahve a small show and great airboat rides and fishing. Also, there is always the beaches. But my fav. is John U. Lloyd which is also in Broward.

Re cultural activities, there's not a lot going on right now as it's the off season. The theatre season usually runs Sept. - May. But the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables does have a production of Stuart Little currently running; a six-year-old boy might enjoy that. I'm taking mine!

For anyone who's here this week, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is hosting Cinderella: A Fractured Fairy Tale, performed by the Fantasy Theatre Factory:

CINDERELLA, A FRACTURED FAIRY TALE
July 20-24. Fantasy Theatre Factory presents a "Cinderella" like you've never seen her before. The story of the sweet young daughter of a wicked stepmother remains true to form, almost. Cinderella gets her prince, but the company has added elements of comedy, slapstick, melodrama, topical songs, acrobatics, trick scenery, and transformation scenes that make this Cinderella more than a bit unusual! Performances at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Road, Coral Gables. For tickets call 305-284-8800. $6.

I don't know if you have to pay park admission in addition to the show price.
