I'm looking at apartment in Dominion Tower. It's address is 1400 NW 10th Ave. So it's at the intersection of 14th St and 10th Ave (NW).

How is the area? Safe?

That's near Jackson Memorial Hospital. That will be a noisy area 24/7. safety wise it's an area full of black and central american people. posters here consider black and hispanic folks as deadly threats, merely casting a gaze upon one meaning certain death for the non black or hispanic onlooker. if you ask me the area is safe enough, I don't think miami has any overly unsafe areas per se. you might want to look over in spring garden about two blocks away as well.

The Dominion Tower building itself is OK. Many of the Jackson/UM folks live there, albeit temporarily. Many of the actual JMH/UM offices are there. It's fine in the daytime. Once evening sets in, there's really no place to go that's walkable and I wouldn't do it.

you see? I have to take umbrage with vp's post. I can only conclude he doesn't know the area well at all. I often find myself providing service in that very area even during the wee hours and there are no real problems. I do this alone and in a vehicle with $30k+ in tools on board. then again I'm not a wuss so YMMV.

You conveniently forgot to mention that PTDC, Miami-Dade County's central jail, is literally one block away from Dominion Tower. The people who drift around that area are very dangerous, poor, smelly, shoeless, homeless, etc. That area has the most bums of anywhere in the county. Not a good place to live...

I wouldn't call it safe (especially after dark), but I wouldn't call it dangerous either. That's the area around Jackson Memorial Hospital -- not exactly the nicest of areas, but you'd be close to the Metro and fairly close to downtown.

Personally, I wouldn't choose to live there....it's a little seedy and there isn't much around there, aside from the hospital (handy if you need it, of course).

well I guess I'm a fearless superman then. the amount of police activity in that area alone possibly makes it safer than kendall but what would I know I only work the area three to four times per week.

I'm a she btw.

And like you said, you're in a vehicle. You're not walking around are you?

I do happen to know the area quite well.

Those towers are in the Allapattah section of Miami, just watch for those alligators, which is what allapatah means if you are a Seminole Indian.

well I couldn't tell if you were male or female from your photo walking on the fence as no genitalia was visible from the angle of the photo. no, I have to get out of the vehicle to perform my work and yes it involves quite a bit of walking around usually on the outside of a gated area and with the gate open, that's what I work on the access control systems. the very nature of my work takes me to "high risk" areas. I have never had a problem but then again most folks really don't want to mess with me, not that I'm a tough guy or anything but I'm best left at peace and I think that comes across non verbally.
