Compelled to reply: You missed the point completely. I want low crime, and to live near my love . I don't care to express why I don't prefer these areas. My opinion is my own, I'm not asking for criticism because I want to move out of Broward. If you have something nice to say about Aventura or wherever else I will read it and consider your opinion. This goes for your negative opinion about Coral Gables. I'm not judging anything other than pros and cons about different towns. Don't take my opinion on where I am trying to decide where to sleep at night personally. I will do likewise (no offense intended) unless you are offering to pay my bills. That should go for all replies. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but I didn't post this for anyone to be ridiculed on personal preferences.

Okay, gotcha. All I wanted was your opinion on why Aventura and Pembroke Pines won't work, but I guess that answers my question. I thought maybe it had to do with the towns itself. I don't have a negative opinion about Coral Gables at all though and would prefer it to Hollywood, just saying there are more property crime there then average or what you would expect, and it's going to be a pretty long drag to work. Pinecrest, for example, has less property crime and is right next door to Coral Gables. Very pricey though. Aventura is half way between Gables and Davie and while artificial in comparison, is still in Dade County and offers nice residential buildings.

That is a legitimate inquiry. Unfortunately I am not compelled to to give a full answer, because its not related to my main question. I will let you know that my opinions are not based directly on the towns themselves. I hope this is satisfactory. If we had a physical conversation I would have been more inclined to divulge. :-)

OP: maybe you should consider Aventura as well as Coral Gables. Aventura is a good half-way point, actually, and many of the buildings have beautiful ocean and intracoastal views. Pembroke Pines to Davie is a much shorter drive than from Coral Gables to Davie, but the latter shouldn't take more than an hour during rush hour. I don't like traffic, but given your situation, I would consider it just so you can live by your boyfriend in an area much nicer than most other options in Miami-Dade or Broward.

For the overinflated Coral Gables prices you could go instead to southwest ranches. If you like Gables style restrictions and a smaller, less appealing home try Weston. Only a glutton for punishment would commute to central Dade from Broward. Davie has some good areas as well. Stay in Broward and forget about the Gables and it's snooty mayor.
