I commute through, shop in and work out in Aventura. I'm there almost every day, for one reason or another, and this has not been my experience at all. The drive can be tough around Christmas when all the x-mas shoppers and snowbirds clog up the roads around Aventura mall, but the remaining comments are untrue IMHO. In fact, Aventura is probably the least hispanic neighborhood in all of Miami Dade.

Miami Beach is full of European tourists and residents, so Speedos are a common sight. It is true, though, that in the U.S., straight men generally wear baggy bathing suits, and it would be considered pretty weird to wear a Speedo if you were swimming in a lake in Missouri. If you want to attract an American girl, though, you'll want to go baggy (unless you look like Enrique Iglesias -- then it doesn't matter what you wear).
No problem with speedos here either, but lived abroad for years.

I have noticed that South Beach has so many American tourists...that speedos seem rarer than you'd think they'd be with all the latinos and europeans in So. Fl.
