Hi everybody! Love the forum great conversations and many useful info.
Looking to rent a 1 bedroom on Brickell or Downtown buildings.
I've seen a few units in The Plaza and seen a bunch of posts on craigslist from the
other Brickell buildings. Many available units for around 1200 - 1400$. many also includes cable
and internet which is a pleasant surprise. It's pretty hard to chose the right building from the internet.
Any recommendations to narrow down my search?
Thanks in advance.

I live in Brickell and I love it, is very nice, safe and near to many things. I would say that you found the average price, but you also can find cheaper, larger and beautiful apartments in older buildings with ocean view (the view in awesome!), like in some buildings of Brickell Bay Drive and Brickel Bayshore. That was my choice, for the price you pay in other blocks, you can get here a seaside apartment.

Thanks, "Plipli". Luckily there are plenty of options, unfortunately the realtor showed me a brand new unit in the plaza and I can't stop thinking about it. Coming from a small dark nyc upper east side apartment everything looks 100 times better on Brickell. Thanks, for the advice I'll look into those too. What do you think about the midtown buildings like, 50 Biscayne, Everglades on the Bay and Loft2 ? seems like there are a little cheaper is it because they are farther from Brickell? Thanks…

The midtown buildings are cheaper because they are located closer to the rough side of town. Brickell is a safer, better area to walk around at night.

Brickell is across the Miami River to the south of downtown. From the arena, you would drive south on US1 and go over the bridge. As soon as you cross the bridge, you are in Brickell. You will know when the streets directions start saying "SE/SW" instead of "NE/NW".

Also, be careful with online ad's for apartments. Many ad's will say "Brickell" to get your attention, but they are really outside of Brickell. A block or two outside of Brickell can be the difference between a good area and a run-down area.

These buildings are actually in downtown, across from the Bayside Marketplace, not "Midtown." Midtown is a few miles north at 36 st & Miami Ave (and I don't recommend it).

I lived in Loft II for a year and it was fine, except that I got tired of having to park on the 5th floor in the garage across the street and the lap pool not being heated. 50 and Everglades don't have the parking issue since parking is incorporated in the buildings.

Brickell is a bit more active at night, but it's still just a couple of blocks from the sketchy areas of East Little Havana. I believe in recent months there have actually been more muggings in Brickell than Downtown...you never know, it is still Miami, after all.

50 and Everglades are literally across the street from Bayside, and Loft II is 2 blocks away. But Loft II is more convenient to Metromover.

I think, like in many places, you never know. I have three months in Miami, I came from Chile, and I think that for feeling absolutely safe you just have to live in Coral Gables, Kendall, Pinecrest and others round there. But in Brickell I can feel safe, I would say the nicer area is at the east of the metrorail, so anything from the south of Miami River untill Rickenbacker causeway and at east of Metrorail line would be fine for sure. I am writting you now looking at my window with this great view of the ocean and Brickell Key and I just can say you won´t regret it.
