The only reason you (not natives) don't hear the southern dialect in miami talk, is bcuz a lot of immigrants live in miami.
Go stay in a black neighborhood and guess what you'll hear...

Regularly, non-blacks, tend to avoid going to a black neighborhoods specially at night... unless it is for some venues. The areas that move Miami's identity internationally and locally are either populated by Spanish-speakers in some sort of a way or international hubs where people think of Miami as an Spanish dominated region. South Beach gets a bit Afro in one day, buton that day South Beach tends to be avoided by the non-blacks.

Carol City, Ives Estates, North Miami, North Miami Beach, El Portal, Miami Shores and most of South Dade around US1 (Palmetto Estates, Goulds, Naranja and Florida City) are diverse areas where a Blacks and Hispanics and even White people live next door to each other. Miami can definitely be segregated but the Overtown troll is right on this one and your guava rant. You need to get out of your little bubble. You can't just disregard the black community in Miami like that. There's not just a Black Miami and then a non-black Miami.
