I currently live in Jacksonville. I am strongly considering moving to Miami sometime after May. I am 25 years and will most likely have a roommate that is also around that age. Where is the best place for a young, outgoing, single person to live in Miami if you want to be walking distance to bars/clubs and preferably the beach. (Being walking distance to bars is more important than being walking distance to beach). Some people have told me to consider either Brickell or South Beach. Anyone have an opinion of which area is more fun? Also, is it mandatory to have a car or could two roommates potential share one car and be fine? Thank you so much for any advice you can offer!

Those are very good suggestions. Since South Beach is the most walkable neighborhood and has a lot of young people who share apartments with roommates, I would suggest that area. If you are going to be working on the mainland, a car is advisable. However, if you live and work on the mainland along the MetroRail line, a car will not be necessary.

South Beach is the most walkable place in Miami-Dade. Its pretty much mandatory to have a car in Miami if you don't want to be inconvenienced. Sharing a car can be done depending on the two people, I wouldn't do it though.

A car each in Miami is a MUST.

No 25 year old girl should be walking anywhere at nite even if its a few blocks away. Take a taxi or buy a car.

Brickell is good if you dont want to deal with the party life every nite of the week but theres a lot going on during the daytime because its the downtown area and very business oriented.

It sounds like you like to have fun. I recommend South Beach and if you REALLY like to have fun look into the FLAMINGO apts at 1500 Bay Road.

If youre renting, dont even worry about it, you can always move out.

I would prefer to live on Brickell but South Beach would be cool too. you really can't go wrong with either area..although i personally think you'll find a generally nicer place to live on brickell than you would on miami beach.
