My job is transferring me to either downtown Miami or Ft. Lauderdale (Las Olas) and it's going to happen fast, so I might not even have time to come down and look at places to live. I want to rent for a year and then maybe buy. I'd like to get an agent that knows both areas and could quickly find me a 1 or 2 BR apt/condo within a mile of the ocean, has a balcony and fitness center, for $1,000 or less. Of course, I want a safe area (single female in 30's).
If anyone can recommend an agent or even a good complex or high rise for either or both areas, I'd be most grateful. My goal is to have 2 or 3 good possibilities for each location. I've been searching but there are so many, it's overwhelming, and I can't tell what's a scam half the time and I don't know the areas.
I know commuting is huge hassle for Miami but if my job is there, I think I'd be willing to go as far north as Hollywood and use tri-rail. That's if Miami is too expensive for what I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance!

I know a good site...

www.miamiwaterfrontproperties.com...

I judge companies by their sites.

When I see filthy, miserable, sloppy, cheap sites,I don't even bother to check...

Me too. If they're not professional enough for proper spelling and grammar and decent pics, I don't trust them. So thanks, but it looks like that site doesn't deal with rentals.

I suggest you have two agents - one in each area. Remember that agents are area-specific. And for a rental, don't expect the agent to commute between cities, no matter how much they love you. It's economics and the commission on a rental is minimal. Good luck!
