seems that the masses don't really care otherwise they'd clean house during election time.

It drove me crazy watching Hialeah re-elect Raul Martinez term after term regardless of all his corruption and federal convictions.

More people need to wake up and pay more attention. Maybe more news media doing more investigative reports and putting it out there on the 6 o'clock news as the cover story not the story that is 15 minutes into the report (by then people have already flip the channel) would help to start making people more aware.

Miami is looking more and more like any typical Central or South American city. Extremely wealthy or extremely poor. The middle class is almost non existent. I still cant figure out how rent in South Florida is the same as in Southern California when there arent nearly half the jobs or half the salary here.

blksophisticado,

Rent is that expensive in Tampa as well. Rent is outrageous! ...luckly we don't rent

I think this is a very sad situation and I think they need to do what Tampa is doing. Tampa is building nice apartments and townhomes in downtown. They are of course expensive but in doing this they bring business and class to downtown ....which seems to rub off on others.

They are building highrises in downtown miami and kicking out the poor, but that isn't the problem for downtown. There are worse issues in downtown, they need to kick out all those ugly stores in downtown, and make it a place were you want to be like South Beach. Till then downtown will be a place to work during the day, and dead at night. I wish our downtown was like Seattle, were you dine, entertainment, shop and live.
