My wife is working on an AA degree in nursing.

What would that get her in Miami...without experience...and is there a special license than anyone who does nursing in Florida would need?

I'm pretty sure you need a Florida license. Here's the state nursing website (it should give you the information you're looking for):

Board Overview - Florida Board of Nursing - Board Overview

I know very little about the employment situation in Miami. I do know that the Jackson Memorial system (large public system) is in a lot of trouble. So the job opportunities might be limited. In addition - I suspect a lot of positions in Miami require applicants to speak both English and Spanish (or maybe English and Creole).

Our health care industry up here near Jacksonville is pretty good (salaries are lower than in Miami - but so is the cost of the living). Robyn

I was a new graduate RN with my BSN w/ no experience last year and the Miami area is dead for new grads. I ran to Ft Lauderdale and here i am working in FMC. I would suggest hospitals like Aventura, Palmetto General. Avoid the major ones in the meantime like Jackson, UM, Baptist

Default Wow,Thks for the info.

I was really concerned about the economy fact, that's why I am very undecided if studying nursing or not.. even though ur comment helped me a bit to visualize the nearer future in Miami.

Nursing is varied. I have worked in 12 states over 20 years as an R.N. I get calls every week for work. I can pick up a phone and get a job. When I graduated in California there were no jobs. I had worked as a CNA for 2 years and was offered a position in a cancer hospital which I enjoyed. After the 1st year I could go anywhere. If you are a giving person and like people follow that desire and it will work out.
