If I was told this before I visited Miami and was looking forward to a vibrant, dense city. I would be very disappointed.
You are so wrong Jluke.. About miami not being vibrant and dense..

Houston is not nearly as dense as Miami. there is really no discussion when it comes to that.

These Texan posters are persistent as usual on all the City vs City threads. Yet they want go over to the miami threads and debate with them on this subject... There really the only ones that are disagreeing

I've never even been on the Miami forum if that is what you are insinuating.

And I haven't fully read this thread but i've noticed you've been throwing around the words "these Texans" quite liberally. What is it that us Texans are doing to bother you?

jluke, trust. Houston does not touch Miami's density and that is because of geography. Miami city density is over 10,000 at 36 sq miles. Even if Houston was at 36 sq miles it would not reach 10,000 ppsm. Miami has Houston beat on density and that's rather easily.

Miami is more dense. It however is not much more walkable than Houston outside of Miami's trendy tourist areas. To get around Miami and walk around Miami, you will need a car. Miami is easily a car city.

No; your just exaggerating the density of Miami. The majority of the Houston area is built about as dense as most of the Miami area.
