Growing up in Miami dade as a foriegn born resident from barbadoas... I feel Miami has lost alot of those traits and that a small portion can be found.. What do you guys who are from Miami think...

OP - I agree, Miami isn't very southern, there are still some parts in Horse Country and out in the Redlands. The rest of Miami isn't southern at all.

No, nothing southern about it. The closest, semi-southern area would be La Belle, FL which is over two hours north of here, ironically. Most of peninsular Florida is not southern, it is too urbanized and diverse with foreign bron residents and northern transplants to have a typical southern culture, despite it's location.

I been trying to preach that over in the city vs city forum it's a big debate over there.. They don't seem to understand the demographics of Miami and how there is a small section of southern culture in Miami

I've met several people in their 40s and 50s (at the youngest) who grew up in Miami and come across as Southern. They're certainly the "holdouts" of that culture though.

You could preach there's a small section of everything in miami, it doesn't mean that is what the city is like.
