Dude, I wouldn't make my decision based on the opinions of some of the people on these boards. They'll basically paint you a horrible picture of Miami and leave off the good things. I suggest you visit or actually do some good research on Miami.

I will tell you this, my dad lived in LA for 25 years and he definitely liked L.A. better than Miami. He said there's more to do out there than there is here.

Personally, I like it here.

My friend who lives in Santa Monica right now and has living in Miami. Said he will never move back to Miami. Because LA is way better overall. All you need to do is read through a few of the threads and you will see you have it way better out in Cali. There are a few that have living in both places, many will say that LA has much more to offer an person. Beware there are a few that don't tell the full picture (the good the bad and the ugly).

You may have a good experience in Miami if, first, you enjoy what you do to earn an income, second, your income allows you to live comfortably in one of Miami's few good neighborhoods, and, third, you can converse fluently in Spanish.

If you tell us more about yourself with respect to the those three points above, we might be able to provide some more detailed answers.

Overall, however, my own impression is that if you are already living comfortably in LA, then stay there and don't come to Miami. Believe me, if I could afford to live comfortably in LA of SF, I'd give up considering to stay in the southern Florida area immediately.

The only thing southern Florida really has going for it, in my view, is the temperature - not the climate, but the temperature - and LA already beats southern Florida on both scores hands down.

Thanks for ya'lls input. The job that I have here is going to be pretty much the same there, only mor exciteing. There is more action in what I do there. Plus I am young and later in life I won't be able to just pick up and move just because I feel like it. I don't really know what to do but I would like to experience life in south fl. I will be taking a pay cut to move there, but I don't really care about money too much.

Sounds like you're coming down here by yourself. If this is the case, then do it. Once there's kids involved it's a different ballgame, obviously, and a lot more to take into consideration. Every place has it's pros and cons...you just gotta make the best of it. The traffic is horrible but that's almost everywhere these days. But there are a million things to do here. I've lived here all my life and it's been a lot of fun. Good luck with whatever decision you make!

I was talking the other day with one of my customers. She's from LA, descendant from mexicans. She told me Miami is one of the worst places she's even been, as far as racism against white Americans (Her hubby is White), people refuse to speak English, and besides she told me in LA there are ten times more things to do. I think coming from her, is a shocking description of today's Miami. The only thing is still in Miami is the name. lol

In my opinion, without never been in LA, Miami has to be a similar third world and a little bit worst.

Yes I will be coming alone. I don't know anyone out there and its a kind of just pack up and go kind of situation. I have considered all of that: I can't exactly just pack up and move when I am married or have children so that makes me more inclined to jump at the opprotunity. I will be living there for only a year, year and half two at the most. After that I don't know where I will go. Do any of ya'll know Riviera Beach?
