As long as it's themed of a certain Asian ethnicity, is more than enough fot that area to be called that certain "Asian ethnicity" town.

Yes, but when people hear Chinatown they're probably thinking of working-class areas with authentic cuisine and culture, not the China exhibit at Epcot.

Exactly, ethnic sections aren't built because someone wants to eat at a $5 dollar chinese lunch buffet, it is because over the years that section has a lot of immigrants from that particular country. It is a great thing this project was shut down instead of having a half ass "chinatown".

It is impossible to create a Chinatown. Have any one being to the NY, or SFO Chinatown? It is where Chinese people live. A "created" Chinatown would have to pursue Chinese people to move there, a bunch of Chinese stores does not make a Chinatown, it makes a Chinese MALL.

I just moved to Omni area. I think Miami in general is lacking of Asian popultion. Personally I can hardly consider Miami as "diverse" mostly I guess because I could not tell what the diference among people from different countries of South America..I think the unified culture and language (Spanish) maked Miami less "diverse" from eyes of Asian like me.

I am not sure about the idea of having a Chinatown in Omni, actaully an Asian town in South Florida will be good enough. I do want a decent Supermarket (like Publix or Wholefood), a cinema, a bookstore (Barn and Nobles) will definitely change this area.

I do not know why it is so hard to do so..........

How do those two things have anything to do with eachother?

I think a Philiipino Town or Little Minila would be perfect. An Asian culture, yet with a splash of Hispanic influence. Perfect for a setting like Miami.

Yes, some Asiantowns came about because of a high concentrations of Asians living and working in that area, but that is not how all Asiantowns came about. Some Asiantowns are just an area of everything themed of a certain Asian ethnicity.

Miami can have an Asiantown, no type of Asians need to live or work there at all. Just do a little research.
Point us to One city that has one of these "Asiantown for the sake of it."
It is sooooooo crazy to think people want a Chinatown, just for the hell of it. Just to say, "Hey, let's go to Chinatown for some peppersteak!". GIVE ME A BREAK ALREADY!
