I have been back in MI since June 9th. I have had 4 interviews with four different companies in 4 1/2 weeks, including 2 interviews in the first week I moved back. And yesterday, during my 4th interview, I got offered the job!!

The job is in Grand Rapids and the job pays about $6000 more a year than my job in Atlanta, GA working for a major Communications Company did.

Anything to do with Security or Voice over IP (Telecommunications) are in HIGH demand. I have experience and certifications in both fields, along with Data Networking. I have received over 20 calls about positions. Some full time and some were contract. But since I had saved up a nice amount of money before I moved, I was able to select the job I wanted.

I had a lot of negative replies in my previous posts about moving back home. I never let them sway my decision about moving back to where my heart is, and I advise the same for anyone else looking to move to MI for the first time or for those of you who want to come back home. Just prepare yourself and you will be able to do it!!

I LOVE PURE MICHIGAN!!

Awesome!!!! So happy for you!

I posted on another thread recently that I believe that there are jobs to be had in Michigan, I'm glad you found it to be true. Congratulations on finding your way home.

Congrats to you! It's nice to hear something positive sometimes, lol- my husband is still in school for his BSIT, and he is enrolled for his Master's as well, but it's the Bachelor's he needs at the moment, lol! It's good to know that there are jobs out there like that- so, again...congratulations!

congrats, I too am hoping to returen to Michigan asap. I moved to Northern Arizona 1 1/2 years ago but really miss my family and friends, so home is where I want to be and that is Michigan. I don't believe I am saying this but I miss winter, snuggling on the couch watching a good movie. Sure hope I can get back in the next couple months. Wish me luck
Debbie

Good luck, Debbie, I feel your pain. I know that a lot of people really love AZ, and there are some good things about living there, but as we found out and it sounds like you also found out, it's just not home. Keep checking the online classifieds like Monster.com, Indeed.com, and Michigan Works! and hopefully something will become available to you.

LOL, I know exactly what you're saying about missing winter. I was one of the loudest critics of winter in Michigan before we moved out of state and I spent a summer in the Phoenix area. Now I realize that having a cold winter is God's way of getting rid of the bugs (at least for a season!), giving us a break from yardwork, and just allowing us to slow down a little bit. You won't hear me complaining anymore.

I will be the biggest supporter of everything Michigan, I took MI for granted. I now know how lucky I was to live their for 53 years. Az is nice, just not for me.....I still have my house their but it is being leased for another year and a few months, if they don't buy then they are out and I am back in. If I can get back before (keeping my fingers crossed) then I will rent until then. But with 3 dogs I am having a difficult time finding a small house with yard at a rent I can affort. I won't give up.....

BIG congrats to you and your positive attitude! As I've told my "kids" (and they got pretty sick of hearing it!), if you have the right "tools" in your "toolbox", you will have choices of careers. I'm so happy you hung in there and welcome to "Pure Michigan"!!

I remember I first came to Michigan years ago... It's been hard not to cry leaving ever since. Now I've got a job in the area! I love MI, more than anything! The land is sacred, the lakes are holy!
