I am moving to Farmington Hills, MI. Could someone suggest a good apartment complex around that area? We also need to know whether this a good school district.

Try the Muirwood Apartments in Farmington. Really good deal I think.

If you decide you're interested in a condo or even a small house, you can buy them on the cheap right now. It would probably be less expensive than renting.

Farmington Hills is chock full of condos with many of them selling for under $80,000, including a number that are over 1200 sq ft, some of which are more modern. I have no idea what kind of condition they are in. This site has a good search engine:

Real Estate One - Property Search: Homes

Condo, 1200 sq ft, $5000-$100,000, Farmington/Farmington Hills pulled up 32 properties. Who knows what kind of condition they are in; many are foreclosures, but it's probably worth a look. As you move closer to the $100,000 listings you will see newer and more modern offerings.

Here's a 1600 ft modern condo in a gated community where they're asking $100,000, which means you can probably bargain it down to at least $90,000.

29866 Tanglewood Dr, Farmington Hills MI 48331 ML# 210030817 | Real Estate One: Detroit, Ann Arbor, Michigan Real Estate

Here's one that's 1550 ft in a decent area that's asking for $35,000 (you can probably get it for $30,000). It might not be perfect and probably needs some work, but with the current interest rate it has to beat renting for someone who thinks they'll live in the area for several years.

There is a community that is newer that I think is apartments with garages on Haggerty near 14 mile road right across from the Target. I think they are supposed to be nice. Though older they have garages as well Thornberry in West Bloomfield. Hillside Forest which is between 13 and 14 on Haggerty have both condos and apartments. Citation Club and Village Green I have not heard good things about at all which are near Hillside Forest. What is your price range? You may be able to find a nice home to rent as well. AYID in FH the school district may be Walled Lake so make sure you find out though WL schools I think are supposed to be good. Birmingham schools and Bloomfield Hills are really good school districts. Some of West Bloomfield like where I lived goes to Birmingham as well.

I lived in Citation Club for a year, they're fantastic apartments with a reasonable price. Farmington Schools is a great school district.
