Thanks for all the input, guys. I've got calls out to a few agencies and I should have the quotes today.

Credit scores in Michigan also are part of the price.

You will be charged most if you have poor or no credit.

Yeah, I suspect credit scores are used in most States.

Great credit scores here.

NM does not have no-fault auto insurance. We do, however, lead the nation in % of uninsured drivers (despite the state law requiring insurance to register a vehicle).

That would make it cheaper.

In 1998 my hubby was in an accident.

The rest of his life his automobile insurance company will pay for anything accident related. Now it is just doctors and meds.

He got 85% of this income for two years.

Millage. It adds up.

And replacement services for one year. That was any work around the house for him or anything he would have normally done.

BTW, this is all tax free.

My mom moved here last year from St Petersburg FL to Kalkaska MI. Same vehicles, same coverage, same company, her insurance went up 3x. It would seem that without the big city crime and traffic, plus no hurricanes, it would be less.

Does FL have the same "no-fault" laws and minimum coverage statutes?

I'm guessin' "no."

I guess I'm the lucky one. I moved back home to Michigan from a VERY rural area in Northern Maine and my Auto and Home insurance rates went down... a LOT. No accidents, no claims either.

We moved from Jax, FL to TC this summer. Our auto insurance went up, mostly that MCCA charge.
