It looks like the Tennessee economy is doing pretty well in the Chattanooga area. All them jobs could of been here.

Nope... Been there the place is huge and rumor is they are expanding. With the Michigan economy in the tank you would think Lansing work work a deal with them... Not to mention all the suppliers opening up shop down there and all the other new business that will follow.

Hopefully they build better cars than VW does in Mexico or they did when they were near Pittsburgh 20-30 years ago.

I think after the Spring Hill debacle, most Michiganders don't care.

Look at Spring Hill, TN now.

Good place for it, MI needs to diversify, not fall right back into the same old rut of leaning on Automotive.

I applied for a job at the Chattanooga plant because I though it would be a good stable job and I have always loved Tennesse. They told me I am still being considered, but part of me is not sure moving there for the job would be a good idea anyway. Yes they now have a booming economy, but like all boom areas the housing cost skyrockets. Paying more for a house in order to make more money would not make sense. Tennesse is also building up so fast that it is getting a very urban feel to the state. The appeal of the south is the slow paced rural life. I think most of Michigan is now slower and more rural than much of the growing south.

The S-series sure was a great car! I had an SL1 with over 200K on it. Drove it to Lubbock and Dallas, TX from Santa Fe, NM several times. Gas mileage was in the 40's. Almost as good as a Toyota Prius gas mileage wise.

Too bad about that plant in Spring Hill.

Maybe VW was looking for people with some semblance of grammar.

I'm also a loyal Saturn SL fan!

Mine has 230,000 on it. Gets 34 mpg. It's the most dependable car I've ever had.

It's by no means a comfortable, quiet, or smooth car, but hey, you can't have everything, right?
