It is deer mating time here in the northern areas of the US. Bucks are on the prowl looking for in heat does. Does which are nearly in heat are being chased by the bucks.
Just this morning we had six does feeding in the front lawn soon a seventh doe ran out of the pines right thru the other six. soon a big 8 point buck came chargeing out of the pines with his nose to the ground had does running all over the place some even headed for the road. finally that buck got back on track to the does he had been chaseing and followed her.

The movement has nothing to do with the hunters making the deer move.

Yup. Saw a nice buck down here last night chasing a doe in the field next to us. The does and their little ones visit regularly, but this is the first buck we have seen.

Last friday when driving through the Grayling area a huge buck walked out in front of our van in broad daylight of the afternoon. Could hardly believe the rack on that thing. Had an insane spread but didnt have brow tines.....biggest, baddest 6pt I've ever seen. Would've been a novelty mount on the wall for sure.

Driving home from work last night, my daughter was lucky enough to miss hitting a doe as it crossed the road. Unfortunately, the doe wasn't so lucky as it was hit by another car. Freaked her out! This is in a suburb of Detroit. There are many on the move, for sure! Be aware and be careful!

A deer ran into the side of my wife's vehicle last night. The deer ran off, but it left a very large dent in the side of the truck. The drivers door will nto open properly. So the deer is probably messed up too.

Driving carefull would not have helped her at all. This deer dashed out from the other side of the road and slammed right into the side of her truck. Darned thing did a lot of damage and we do nto even get to eat it. We called the pollice and they were going to go look for it and shoot it if it was suffering.

By the way, does anyone know, does it cost more to have a deer butchered than the meat is worth (comparing the meat to beef prices in the grocery store)?

It's definitely worth the cost of having it butchered. I usually do it myself, but I would definitely pay to have it done.

Ah yeah! Add in the cost of hunting clothing, deer stand, license, firearm, ammo, scent-block if you use it, and finally butchering costs...... The cost per pound is much greater, but the jerky is fantastic!!!!!!!

clothing, deer stand, firearm are one time costs....butcher it yourself and it is def. cost effective.

BTW, here is Charlevoix, we had a guy set up a stand on the property next to ours with permission from the land owner. Husband walked over to his stand and found bait pile and salt lick. The DNR came out and posted notice and the guy took his stuff and hasnt been back....DNR DOES come out to private land!

Just to get off my chest...baiting and shooting ANY animal is NOT hunting.
