I am a Michigan native who is moving back home after living in Chicago for the past several years. The reason for this is that my last job was a long-term temp position in a law firm, which expired last August. I have been unable to find work since. On top of that, my mother is seriously ill and I would like to be home to take care of her as I'm from a small family and the only immediate person who could help her. Plus, I just plain miss Michigan. All of my close friends and family are there. I have a job lined up but the pay is terrible- $10 an hour, 37.5 hours a week, no benefits. I have heard some talk about the market there improving. Does it look like things are getting any better?

You probably won't find a much better job than that, unfortunately.

Depends on what you want to do and where you will be living. My company has been hiring left and right since our return from lay off and we are busier than we have been in since I started there 5 years ago. Union shop starting at just under $17. Not a fan of the union though. There is a site called indeed.com I think, best site I know of to find jobs.

I too am still hoping to get back to MI, so thanks for the Indeed.com link. I moved to AZ 2 years ago but am really missing family and friends in MI. Sometimes we just don't appreaciate what we have until it is gone.
I had leased my home with option and now he wants out of the lease early, sorry for him since it is due to getting divorsed (sp?) so with a little luck on my side I may be back around New years day..... Happy holidays to all.....
