Wowza!!! Took a trip this weekend up to copper harbor, and to the top of the montain. Probably the most gorgeous place I have ever seen. Michigan may have a rough economy, but you sure have lots to see. Who needs money with natural beauty like that!!!!.. Thanks Michigan, your up is the best. Now I am home in Northern WI and want to come back to the up. It is realy different up there and the topography is not boring. People were wonderful. thanks again!!!

I just moved here a year ago and can't wait to visit myself! Were the fall colors in bloom? They are just starting here...

You can check out some webcams around MI including Copper Harbor at this website I stumbled on earlier this year - webcams of Great Lakes (http://www.fortunebaycompany.com/Environmental%20Conditions/Michigan%20Web%20Cam.htm - broken link).

Copper harbor is a stunning place, I assume you went on brockway mountain drive which I have never seen in fall, only in winter and summer it must have been astounding. If you want to go a little bit further and see a truly untouched wilderness, go to Isle Royal National Park, which is accesiable from ferry that leaves from Copper Harbor (it also leaves from Houghton, MI) Its roughly a 3hr ride on some very choppy Lake Superior waters but well worth the voyage. If you go as far as Copper Harbor again, take the trip to Isle Royal it is truly a lifetime experience! (Look on NPS.GOV)

We stayed at the Brockway Mountain Inn last time. The wife half of the owners also worked at that gift shop on top of the mountain. We fished in Lake Fannie Hoe...didn't catch anything. Ft. Wilkins was a nice tour and ate at the Harbor House. Even saw the Northern Lights when we were there. There are some very cool old cemeteries up there. Lots of young miners killed as well as kids and mothers during child birth. Different times. We take a lot for granted for sure.

Copper Harbor is amazing. One of the most beautiful tours is to follow the shore of Lake Superior ALL the way around. I am so thankful I was able to take this trip a few times in my life....before the economy made it impossible for us. Anymore, we Michiganders cannot afford to see much of our own state. It really sux to live in such beautiful terrain and not be able to enjoy it!

Love love love the keweenaw. Anyone see the cool house in copper harbor(on the harbor) like a small vacation home but very gorgeous and obviously $$$. Looks new I suppose it could have been built after 07- I would love to know what the layout is. It's very small-anti mcmansion.

Visited it in September 2007 for a friend's wedding at MTU. Gorgeous country up there.
