jenny, I live in Mqt. (east side) My advise would be, 4th street is a much busier street. I looked online at the house on fourth and with it being on the corner of Alger that works as a good benefit because you would not get much traffic on that street and I believe the driveway is accessed via Alger also. You will see more college rentals on fourth st but they are kept up well with city ordinances. The 300 block of W. Park street should be very quiet (like Alger) as it would be almost all local traffic. I live on a small local east side street and I see more walkers/bikers than cars! Again 4th st will see more North/South traffic, but I think too with the new 7th street extension going through it may have alleviated some of that. Both address are close to NMU and the Hospital and are in Convenient locations. Did you Google Earth street view the two locations? Traffic wise Park would be better. :-)

Jenny~ I tried the google earth street view on 823 4th ( I was bored) and wouldn't you know there was road const at the time, so the street view did not get to the corner of Alger and 4th. but you can still view what 4th street looks likes.

I'm not sure off hand but you can put in the zip code and look at the actual crime stats online.
