We lived in Redford for 5 years and loved it. We were off 5 mile near Telegraph. The supervisior who replaced Handy seemed to cut a lot of activities, but we never had problems. Our daughter followed us there and had 3 kids in RU schools. She loved the schools (elementary). I would avoid the area between 6 mile to 8 mile from Beech Daly to Telegraph. ALl the other areas are nice.

We lived in Redford for a while when I moved with my (at the time) 10 year old son, over on Negaunee. I would swear by the elementary school, the staff and teachers were absolutely wonderful.

Lived in Redford for nearly 10 years and DH grew up there. We also lived in the 5 mile and Telegraph area.

I still own a house there (rental) and I have noticed that Redford in some areas are "changing". Many of the older home owners are losing there home so there are more houses up for sale (empty) or more rentals.
It is not as family oriented in that area. I would say stay north of Plymouth, and south of 6 mile... and west of Beech.
BTW some areas of 6 and 7 mile mentioned above are not Redford but in fact is Detroit city limits. The 5 points just 1 block east of the REdford Library is NOT Redford... it is Detroit.

I live in Redford, it's a decent town. If you are going to move hear in the Redford Union School district, I would recommend you staying west of Beech Daly Road. That is where the nicer safer neighborhoods are. A nice area of Redford is around Western Golf Club and Country Club.

The two neighborhoods circled in red is the are i'm talking about.

Question where are you relocating from?

Also when you say finding somewhere cheap seems hard do you mean the area I suggested or Redford in general?
