I was returning from the Detroit area on I-94 going back to the Chicago area today and I noticed a roadkilled porcupine. I thought they really are found mostly up-north. Anyone live along the vicinity of I-94 that has seen them in the wild??

I used to live just south of Marshall and had porcupines in the woods behind the house all the time. My house was about 3 or 4 miles south of 94.

Thats right about where I sought the roadkill. I always thought they prefer more of the north woods and pine trees.

Back when I was raised on a farm in NW part of Mi, your dog coming home with quills in his nose once or twice a month was the norm.

I know my dog found at least a couple of them while living there. A couple trips to the vet to have quills removed is proof enough for me. Plus I've seen them out back while living there.

When we lived by Three Rivers (south of 94 fairly close to the Indiana border) we had them on our property there (lived on 50 acres).

Wildlifely speaking, a bear was sighted in north Grand Rapids a couple years ago. Have any ever been seen further south?
