I noticed this too. There is probably quite a difference between Van Buren County, a largely rural county in the far west side of the state, and Van Buren Twp., an urban area in western Wayne Co. in the Detroit metro...

Not to get too sidetracked, but this is an interesting discussion of definitions. I've always thought of yuppies as a 80's/90's term, which invokes images of BMW's, RayBan sunglasses and Alligator shirts. I'll never shake that image whenever someone says "Yuppies."

Today, it seems like "Creative Class" gets used a lot more, which are the total antithesis of yuppies. If you're looking for neighborhood business districts with indie coffee shops and used book stores, hookah lounges, historic neighborhoods, anarchist bakeries, etc.., the only thing close would be Ann Arbor.

If you want Starbucks and BMW's, anywhere around Canton, Plymouth will suit.

He is asking about Van Buren Township in western Wayne County. He is not asking about Van Buren County. There is a huge difference.

Van Buren Township

There. Hopefully that will clear it up.
