This is what my brother says about the ocean too, and he is out there in Honolulu counting the days until he can move back home. I'll ask him about the ocean, and his reply is always "it sucks" compared to the Great Lakes.

Totally agree! And Michigan has some AMAZING beaches! If it were warm water and warm enough to swim year round, you would hear lots more about them. They would rival most beaches anywhere in the country.

I'd rather have the warm ocean of Hawaii any day than the cold, cold lakes.

There's a lot to like about MI but give me warm water any day.

I like the mix of scenery. From flat midwest-style farm country to rolling hills, swampland, dense wooded areas, sandy beaches, rocky cliffs along Lake Superior, the more tame shoreline of Lake Huron, trees ranging from blazing maple trees to evergreens, islands, huge sand dunes, etc, etc.

We have something for almost everyone, except for the diehard fans of mountains and the larger-than-life landscapes out west. And that's OK. Not everyone has to like Michigan. But there IS a lot to like.

Im a avid atv rider, michigan offers a ton of great trail systems but mainly up north. I enjoy hopping on my 4x4 atv and cruising through the woods seeing wildlife and all the colors. Its just amazing what you experience on a atv. But on a side note i would like to move to west virginia for the hatfeild mccoy trail system. Michigan has been sticklers on summer orv enthusiasts un like the snowmobiles (that i also enjoy).

For me, it's the fact that we'll be moving to the northern L.P. very soon. After the move, it will likely be all of the above.
