Hi, I'm new to the Lansing area and I'm in search of a good veterinarian for my dog. Lansing is easy to get around, so it doesn't really matter which side of town. I'd even be willing to go out of town if someone knows of a good one near Lansing.

Thank you!
Laura

The vet school at MSU...?

Perhaps not the least expensive place to go for routine things like HW meds and rabies vaccinations, but certainly cutting-edge knowledge and technology for anything beyond that.

"Good vet" is sort of general...many people have preferences about types of treatment available, vaccine policies, a big multi-vet clinic v a smaller operation, what sorts of equipment the vet has available and what her or his specialties are, is the vet open to alternative/complementary practices, whether you show/breed/trial or work your dog, your dog's breed and potential related concerns...lots of variables!

Default Miller Animal Clinic

Would highly recommend the Miller Animal Clinic on West Saginaw. Found several good reviews of them online before taking my dog there and I have not been disappointed. Costs are reasonable, the large staff keeps patients moving in and out quickly and they will talk to you on the phone if you have a basic pet health question. No complaints with them in 3 years.

They might be hard to get to with all the road work being done on Saginaw right now, but if you take 496 to Creyts and then Creyts almost all the way to Saginaw, you should be able to sneak in the back way in a small road right behind Walgreens. (Watch out for potholes!) Otherwise, you can just turn left on Saginaw and then left again to their entrance before the car dealership.

Schultz Veterinary Clinic at 2770 Bennet Rd in Okemos gets high marks from a lot of people I know in this area. Number is 337-4800. He's not the least expensive but does quality work.

Dr. Main out of Mason is excellent. I've also worked with Miller Vet on West Sagianaw and they are very good.

If you want inexpensive vacs/HW, etc, Dr Patterson in Mason has very competitive prices, and Dr DeSilva is good there. But, get there early because the wait time is long if you don't.

If it's not too far, I would recommend Charlotte Veterinary Hospital, right on Lansing Street in Charlotte (south of Lansing, off Interstate 69), Dr Miller is great. I worked there for my co op job my senior year of high school. Dr Miller is a great guy, and he really cares about animals. Plus he has been there for a long time, which shows that people appreciate how well he treats their pets.
