Thanks to all for the great input. My wife and I will come up in July to check out Ludington, Traverse City and the other areas mentioned. I have also visited the citys websites and printed relocation guides for the respective communities.

Interlochen is a very small...but very neat little town and beautiful area. When we move north this is an area we will look because of its beauty, and because it is so close to everything. Plus, the home prices here are very reasonable.

Here is an older thread I found after enjoying the discussion here. It sounds like you can't go wrong either way, but the best idea so far is to visit both again and see what feels right for you! Good luck, and keep us posted!
