Well, that's an honest appraisal. I was provisionally encouraged that he had such a strong busienss background, but so far I'm just seeing the same old Republican routine -- make all the taxes go away and the jobs will magically appear.

Can you give us some concrete examples of how we would be better off with another tax and spend Democrat who is in the pocket of the big unions? Eight years of Jenny G. sure didn't do us any good. What exactly did she accomplish, other than looking cute in a suit?

He inherited a State in dire financial duress, the results of Engler's mis-guided tax cuts and the falisies of "Trickle Down" economics.

If it hasn't worked in 30+ years folks, it ain't gonna work!!!

So far Snyder has:
  1. Taxed pensioners with nearly no regard to their income levels or abilities to pay.
  2. Given a HUGE tax break to businesses, even larger than the tax increase extracted from the seniors, thus weakening the financial strength of the State even further.
  3. Cut the living day-lights out of educational spending, causing even more young people and families to leave the State.
  4. Proposed laws, which were then passed by his Republican lackies, which are unconstitutional and will cost the State dearly in future legal fees and settlements.
  5. Generally appears completely clueless and indifferent to everyone other than himself.

Gosh, couldn't help but notice that somehow Snyder inherited all of this from Engler. So...during the eight years between their administrations...oh, never mind. You've already drunk the Kool-aid, therefore all the truth and reality in the world won't matter.

The Dems' plan for running a government:

a.) Rack up millions in reckless spending, making sure to pad the pockets of the guys at the top, then gouge the little guys that you supposedly care so much about to pay for it.

b.) Repeat.

I truly hope none of you are parents with children in public schools..........because your governor could basicall give two &%*s about their education.

I so wish I could sign the recall petition!!

(and yes, I live in Denver but all my family is in Grand Rapids and I will eventually be moving back to MI)

The same types of cuts are taking place in Ohio. In the Toledo Blade newspaper last week there was an article about a local school district having decided that the superintendent that they had hired a few years ago "wasn't in keeping with the future plans of the district" so they cut her loose to the tune of a $550,000+ severance package. Maybe drastic budget cuts are going to be the only thing that can reign in the runaway spending in the public schools.

Our kids never attended any public school. We are not wealthy, and it was with a lot of hard work and personal sacrifice that we were able to give them an alternative, so no, I am not an out of touch wealthy person who doesn't care about kids. I'm simply a middle class taxpayer who works hard and cares about the money that is being wasted in the name of kids. Streamline first, then ask the state for more money.

Michigan has been losing population since the early 1960s. Government spending should be going DOWN since fewer schools, police departments, fire departments, etc are needed for a shrinking population.
