The closest small town to our house in Ocqueoc is Onaway. We drive through this little gem on the way to/from our place. On my last trip up I found the following.

I was at the house for roughly a week, and none of this was in evidence on my way in. Imagine my surprise when I drove through on my way out.

Honestly, it was very gratifying to see MDOT investing in the infrastructure of a small rural city, especially one which is so close to our new home. When growing up I spent every summer in Onaway, so this is one of my two "home towns". The other being Taylor.

A quick Google search brought up this description of the work being done. From Up North Live.com:

"MDOT is planning to reconstruct 1.3 miles of M-68 from M-33 to Ninth Street through the city of Onaway beginning in early April. The project includes road reconstruction, new storm sewer, water main, curb and gutter, sidewalks, street enhancements and a flashing beacon upgrade."

We're heading up this weekend, and I'm looking forward to seeing where the project stands.

We drove through there just over a week ago and it looked the same as the photo. We were camping in Wolverine and decided to go over to see the Ocqueoc falls.
